W.O.F. 11 "granny"

Sorry for the delay in posting the weekly W.O. Our son is home, and he agrees the object has to be "granny", this thing my wife brought home from a garage sale once. Her intended purpose is to slip over a vacuum cleaner to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

Here's the problem: When Granny is doing her job on the vacuum cleaner, I see her - a lot - out of the corner of my eye and do a double take, wondering who the creepy old hag is in our house...

So we are not big fans, but there she is.

Other interesting items from the day:

1. Driving home from Columbus, about ten miles from home, I spotted this bald eagle sitting out in a field. I turned the car around and came back for a better look, and he countered by flying further back in the field. Then as we made a final pass, he took off for the woods. One of my rules is: when you see a bald eagle, you have to go back and take another look.
2. My wife and son went to an auction while I was away in Columbus. This is always an event fraught with a mix of danger and anticipation. You never know what they may return with, either one of them. The boy brought home this Baldwin organ. He said it went for one dollar, so he could not refuse it. Um, here it is in our parlor, where it WILL NOT STAY. The tentative plan is for it to return to college with him tomorrow. We'll see how well it fits in the trunk with some roping down. He notes that, at one dollar, this is the most expensive of the three organs that have graced our home. The original one was a fine gift from the parents of a college friend of mine, who were vacating a summer cottage and really had nowhere to put the thing. It is in our living room. The second one only stayed in our house for less than a week. The boy and his friends heard that someone had placed it on the curb during the annual "throw out your trash and we'll pick up anything" spring cleaning week. A friend took it off our hands and their band, Instant gepetto, used it for a while.

OK, all caught up.

When he takes it back to school, will that be an organ transplant?

Yes.

By the way, I'm not liking that Granny much...creeps me out, too. How's about putting her away (WAY away) when I come visit?

Granny is creepy, & I can relate about children who store their treasures back home with mom & dad. Megan's closet is stacked with 8 boxes of pottery. (I had to relocate them so Ben could move back into his room) Her electric piano and electric bass are still here. I'm glad she took her cello with her and only rented, and eventually returned the string bass! I don't have a clue here I would have found the room for that one.

Granny is creepy, but I appreciate the craft it took to create her. And the bald eagle is beautiful. I have never seen a real one except an injured one at the zoo being rehabbed.

Pigeon, I too can relate, when my son and daughter moved out their leftover belongings filled an entire basement office. Now my daughter had moved back home and my entire living room is filled with stored objects.
