The temps were hovering in the 70's this evening, so we filled up a couple jugs with warm water and had at the dog with the baby shampoo. This should improve her aroma, and make her more approachable by humans.
In her old age (13 now), she doesn't mind the bathing so much; she just tolerates it and settles in for the duration. It seems as if she actually enjoys the toweling off phase. She will approach the towel like a fighting bull, and wear the towel, as you can see, like a boxer resting in the corner between rounds.
Of course, she'll probably find a mud puddle and get back to her "natural state" soon enough. It's nice to have a sweet-smelling canine around, though, at least for as long as it lasts.
With that towel adorning her, she'd probably qualify as a "weird object". I should have waited a day!
