What else could it be that's close? Hmmm..is it sticky and does it pick up pet hair? Or a magnet that picks up staples? I don't know. Actually, it looks kind of like a cat toy. Man, it's too late at night for me to think. My mind is racing. I need some slee.......................zzzzzzzzz
OK, it's an inexpensive "robot" floor cleaner. You put a ring of disposable cleaning paper on the bottom and that ball in the middle, with a battery, causes it to scoot around randomly, dusting the floor. It makes a better conversation piece than an actual robot maid, but it's kinda cool. The dog is indifferent to it. Far from it. Although I can see the web cam connection with that round thing in the middle.
Looks like the first Roomba robotic vaccuum (before they took the kinks out and came up with one that worked!)

Did it ever work well? (as promised on TV)
It does actually collect a lot of pet hair and such, but since it goes around in such a random fashion, it is likely to miss spots.
This is Ben's wife. I love the robot. It's the closest I'll get to a maid. And it does dust well.
