There's been talk in the blogosphere lately about buzzards, vultures, and the like. So here's one of our winged visitors from this past spring, acting a little weird up in the trees...
I grew up in Hinckley, Ohio and the turkey vulture was a very welcome sight around March 15. It seemed that all the world came to Hinckley on the Sunday following the fifteenth for Buzzard Day festivities. Hinckley was also featured in the 1965 Walt Disney movie, "It's Tough to be a Bird."

Was he trying to scare you
or was he posing for a picture?
ha.
I really like that last photo.
Those things are creepy. And yet they're kinda fascinating. My few that took roost in the maple last year did not return this year.
We had way fewer buzzards hanging out in the 'hood this year. But they do like a neighbor's pine trees for temporary roosting when visiting.

Ah yes, WIXY, the famous buzzards returning to Hinckley like clockwork every year!
